Onyx Oyster is the soft beige-gray finish on Fabuwood's Onyx Shaker door, built within the Allure line. The color sits between greige and warm cream, which gives it the flexibility to live in either a transitional or contemporary kitchen without forcing the design either way.
Onyx is a clean recessed-panel Shaker built on an MDF core. MDF takes paint better than most hardwoods, so the Oyster finish lays down smooth and stays consistent across long runs of cabinetry. The trade-off is that MDF is best kept dry inside and around the sink base, where Fabuwood specifies plywood reinforcement on the back panel.
This finish suits remodels that want a quiet neutral on the walls and a stronger color or counter to do the design work. It pairs comfortably with marble-look quartz, white or honed soapstone, and either polished nickel or warm brass hardware. The greige tone also reads well in spaces with low daylight, since it carries enough warmth to keep a windowless galley from feeling cold.
Wipe with a microfiber cloth and a mild dish soap; skip ammonia and citrus solvents on painted MDF. Order a sample before locking the order, and view it on your counter at the time of day you actually use the kitchen so you can see how the warm gray reads under your real lighting.
