The Mersey quartz sample shows Cambria's Mersey design — mersey is a deep, glassy black daubed throughout with white streaks that flash like lightning against a starless night sky. Cambria lists the design's colors as Black, with the design feature listed as Wave, and the polished sample chip is the right tool for judging that colour in your own kitchen lighting before committing to a full slab spec.
Mersey is the darkest reading of the wave-form designs. The base is a glassy black with very little mid-tone, so the white streaks carry all of the contrast. On a polished finish the surface is highly reflective, which amplifies both the design and everyday dust and fingerprints — a trade-off worth judging on the chip in your own lighting.
High-drama islands, bar tops, feature walls and fireplace surrounds. Best where a strong, graphic dark surface is the intent rather than a neutral background.
Hold the chip against your cabinet door and floor in your kitchen's actual lighting. A 4-inch sample is a small select cut from a slab and does not show the full range of movement in the finished surface, so treat it as a colour and finish reference rather than a pattern preview.
For islands and long runs, request slab photos or a fabricator visit before the order locks in. Vein and tone placement vary enough across Mersey slabs that section selection becomes a visible design decision.
