Lexington Thunder Pewter Glaze is Kitchen Craft's mid-gray finish on the Lexington recessed-panel door, sealed with a hand-applied pewter glaze that settles into the panel reveal and frame edges. Built on alder, the door brings real wood character through the layered finish.
Hand-glazed finishes settle into corners and reveals to add shadow detail. Black glaze creates clear high-contrast definition along the panel edges, which reads dramatic. Pewter glaze takes a softer middle path, with a cooler gray-brown pigment that adds depth without the strong tonal contrast of black. On a Thunder gray base, the pewter glaze deepens the gray field with subtle warmth rather than aggressive contrast.
Lexington Thunder Pewter Glaze carries transitional kitchens where the cabinetry should read intentional but quieter than a black-glaze finish, primary bath vanities, and homes with mixed warm and cool elements where pewter's neutral character bridges the palette. It pairs comfortably with marble-look quartz, brushed nickel or polished nickel hardware, and oak or walnut flooring. Brass also works against the pewter glaze, since the cooler glaze pigment doesn't fight warm metal tones.
Hand-glazed finishes are intentionally non-uniform. The glaze depth, pattern, and overall tone vary slightly between doors and across runs, which is what gives the finish its hand-built character. Order a sample door so you can see the pewter glaze in person before locking the kitchen spec, since the cooler glaze pigment shifts visibly between bulb temperatures.
