Lexington Thunder Black Glaze is Kitchen Craft's mid-gray finish on the Lexington recessed-panel door, sealed with a hand-applied black glaze that settles into the panel reveal and frame edges. Built on alder, the door brings real wood character through the layered finish.
Plain mid-gray painted Shakers can read flat across long cabinet runs, especially in painted finishes where the pigment carries less visual depth than stained finishes do. A hand-applied black glaze pools in the recessed panel and along the frame edges, adding shadow detail that breaks up the surface. On Thunder, the black glaze settles enough to give the door real depth without darkening the overall gray field too aggressively.
Lexington Thunder Black Glaze carries transitional kitchens where the cabinetry should read intentional and dressed, especially in homes with formal living spaces or original architectural details that should coordinate with the kitchen. It pairs comfortably with marble-look quartz, brushed brass or warm nickel hardware, and oak or walnut flooring. The glaze depth reads strongest under warmer LED, where the shadow detail in the panel reveal becomes most visible.
Hand-glazed finishes are intentionally non-uniform. The glaze depth, pattern, and overall tone vary slightly between doors and across runs. That variation is what gives the finish its hand-built character. Order a sample door so you can see the glaze in person before locking the kitchen spec, especially since gray-base glazes shift more visibly between bulb temperatures than warmer-base glazes do.
