Gentry Cloudburst Smoke Glaze pairs the cool Cloudburst grey paint with a hand-applied smoke glaze that produces a softer, more diffused shadow line at the door's profile joints. The result is a quieter, more atmospheric layered finish than the crisp Black Glaze version on the same Cloudburst base.
Cloudburst is a cool-leaning mid-grey, and smoke glaze is a deep cool grey-charcoal. Together they create a tone-on-tone layered look where the glaze defines the inside corners with quiet depth rather than sharp definition. The result reads sophisticated and contemplative — atmospheric rather than formal. Each door reads slightly differently because the wipe is hand-controlled.
Modern moody kitchens, design-led remodels with cool palettes, and larger open-plan kitchens where multiple grey tones (counter, splash, accent walls) already exist. The tone-on-tone character means Cloudburst Smoke Glaze fits comfortably into rooms with existing cool-grey elements rather than introducing a contrasting accent.
Brushed nickel, polished chrome, and matte black hardware all register cleanly against the cool layered grey. Skip warm brass tones, which fight the cool character of both the Cloudburst base and the smoke glaze. For counters, white-veined quartz with grey accents, cool-toned Carrara look-alikes, and honed black granite all complement the door.
The softer contrast hides daily fingerprints and edge wear better than crisp black-glaze finishes, but the conversion topcoat still benefits from a damp microfiber wipe. Skip abrasive scrubs, which can dull the low-sheen surface over years of use.
Order a door sample to confirm the smoke glaze technique under your kitchen's actual lighting before placing the full order. Tone-on-tone glazes shift visually between conditions.
