Bristol in Satin Sleet (thermofoil construction) is a Shaker door from Kitchen Craft's Bristol line in a soft cool-grey thermofoil finish. The thermofoil construction provides a uniform finish that's resistant to chips and moisture, suited to high-use kitchens and budget-conscious remodels that want clean Shaker character.

What Thermofoil Means in Practice

Thermofoil construction wraps a thin vinyl finish layer over an MDF substrate using heat and pressure. The result is a seamless finish without visible joints, with consistent color across every door, and resistance to staining and moisture damage that painted finishes cannot match. The trade-off is that thermofoil cannot be repaired or refinished if damaged.

Specifications

  • Style: Bristol Shaker, full overlay, classical inside profile.
  • Construction: MDF substrate with thermofoil wrap.
  • Color: Sleet, a soft cool-grey with subtle blue undertone.
  • Finish: Satin sheen, uniform across doors.
  • Box: Plywood with dado-set back panel.

Best Application

High-use family kitchens, rental properties, multifamily and hospitality projects where uniform finish matters, budget-conscious remodels that want refined character, and laundry rooms or mudrooms where moisture resistance is valuable. Bristol Sleet thermofoil works in any contemporary or transitional palette where cool grey suits the design intent.

Hardware and Counter Direction

Brushed nickel and polished chrome both fit the cool grey-blue palette. Matte black tightens the look modern. For counters, white-veined quartz with grey or blue tones reads cleanly. Skip warm-cream surfaces, which fight the cool undertone.

Care Notes

Thermofoil is more chemical-resistant than painted finishes but less repair-friendly. Wipe with microfiber and dish soap. Skip abrasive scrubs that can scratch the thermofoil layer permanently. Avoid prolonged heat exposure (close to the range or oven) which can cause edge lift over years.

Order a sample door before placing the full kitchen. Thermofoil colors can read slightly different than painted equivalents.
