Soho Horizontal is a contemporary slab-style door from Kitchen Craft's Soho line in a horizontal grain orientation. The horizontal grain direction reads more dynamic and architectural than standard vertical-grain slab doors, suited to modern kitchens that want directional visual character.
Most slab doors use vertical grain orientation by default, which reads conventional and architectural. Horizontal grain orientation reads more contemporary and dynamic: the wood pattern flows across the door rather than up and down, creating linear visual movement that emphasizes the room's horizontal proportions. The result reads design-led rather than default.
Modern minimalist kitchens with contemporary architectural language, urban lofts where the cabinet design reads as part of the architectural statement, and design-led remodels with mid-century or Scandinavian-leaning direction. Soho Horizontal works especially well in larger kitchens where multiple cabinet runs benefit from directional grain that ties the room together visually.
Long bar pulls and slim T-bar profiles oriented vertically create deliberate counterpoint to the horizontal grain, reading as designed contrast rather than accidental misalignment. Push-to-open mechanisms also work cleanly to keep the horizontal grain uninterrupted. Skip ornate cup pulls and oversized knobs.
Wood-grain slab doors show wear and dust along the grain direction, which means horizontal grain shows daily marks differently than vertical grain. Wipe along the grain with microfiber. Skip abrasive scrubs that can dull or scratch the surface finish.
Order a sample door before placing the full kitchen. Horizontal grain orientation reads very differently in person than in standard product photos.
