West Paterson or Woodland Park is a borough in Passaic County, New Jersey state. Little Falls Township portions formed a borough called West Paterson in 1914 by an act of the New Jersey Legislature. The borough is now called the Borough of Woodland Park. The citizens voted to change the name on November 4, 2008, to dissociate themselves from the Paterson city which is significantly poor and faces high levels of crime. The new name of the borough still has the same initials – WP. These initials symbolize the wooded areas in this community.
Woodland Park NJ or West Paterson NJ is conveniently located near the Passaic County municipalities of Little Falls, Clifton, Totowa, and Paterson. The borough has a lot of green areas. There is Garret Mountain Reservation, a county park that covers 568 acres, Lambert Castle, the park that rises 500 feet and offers views of the New York City skyline, and Rifle Camp Park located within Woodland Park. Here, you can hike, go to the observatory, to the nature center, or camp.
